Where a single-deck shaker provides one screening surface for the full fluid flow, a dual-deck shaker distributes flow across two vertically stacked decks. The upper deck typically carries coarser screens (API 40 to API 80) that remove the largest cuttings and protect the finer lower deck screens. The lower deck carries finer screens (API 100 to API 200) for final solids removal before the fluid proceeds to downstream equipment. This progressive screening approach improves overall separation efficiency while extending the life of the more expensive fine-mesh lower deck screens.
