Well intervention operations require shale shaker equipment that can be rapidly deployed and provide effective solids control for the diverse range of activities that well interventions encompass. Aipu Solids Control has developed shale shaker configurations for intervention applications, combining over 15 years of manufacturing experience with the mobility and flexibility that well intervention service providers require.

Well intervention encompasses a wide range of activities performed on producing wells, including stimulation treatments, sand cleanouts, scale removal, tubing replacement, and remedial cementing. Each type of intervention generates different solids loads and fluid characteristics that the shale shaker must handle. Coiled tubing cleanouts produce large volumes of sand and formation fines at moderate flow rates. Acid stimulation flowbacks contain chemically aggressive fluids with dissolved and suspended solids. Scale removal generates hard, angular particles that can damage screens. The diversity of intervention activities means the shaker must handle variable conditions without the planning time available for drilling operations.
Aipu addresses intervention requirements through versatile shaker designs that adapt to changing conditions. The adjustable deck angle from minus 1 degree to plus 5 degrees enables rapid adjustment for the conveyance characteristics of different solids types—steeper angles for heavy, granular solids from sand cleanouts, flatter angles for slow-draining fines from acidizing returns. Premium vibrating motors from Ital-Vibras, Martin, and Oli providing 6.0G to 7.5G of acceleration maintain effective separation across the range of intervention fluid viscosities. Quick-change screens enable the mesh size changes that may be needed as intervention activities progress and solids characteristics change. The feed distribution system handles the variable flow rates characteristic of intervention pumping schedules, from the high rates of cleanout pumping to the low rates of well kill circulation.
Rapid deployment is critical for intervention shakers, as intervention jobs are often scheduled on short notice and downtime at the wellsite is extremely expensive. Compact, skid mounted or trailer mounted configurations enable rapid transport and setup at the well location. Simple electrical and fluid connections reduce rig-up time, often enabling the shaker to be operational within hours of arrival at the wellsite. The shaker should be self-contained with integral walkways and access for safe operation without requiring separate access structures. Corrosion resistant 316L stainless steel construction is recommended for the chemically aggressive fluids common in stimulation and chemical treatment interventions. Manufactured in Aipu’s 50,000 square meter Xi’an facility under API Q1 certified quality management, intervention shakers provide the rapid-deployment, versatile solids control that well intervention service providers rely on for efficient, productive operations across their full range of well intervention services.
